Leadership at Black Rock

At Black Rock we know our church’s opportunity to inspire hope and ignite faith in every person we meet comes as we grow our leadership. Many times our ceiling for new opportunities comes from a great harvest, but the leaders are few.

Thank you for taking a few moments to read through the content on this page. As you read, see if there is a next step in your leadership through our training, survey, or current leadership positions that you might be able to fill.

Leaders at Black Rock

A “leader at Black Rock” is a volunteer who has one or more of these:

  1. Spiritual Influence (teaching/coaching/mentoring/group leader)
  2. Managerial oversight over other volunteers (team leader/volunteer coordinator)
  3. Decision-Making power (Elders, Board, Committee, Supervisory team)

Our desire is that each leader live out these values:

  1. Worship in a Service weekly
  2. Connect in a Group
  3. Serve on a Team
  4. Living out Christian character both in the church and in your personal life – We ask all leaders to sign a character commitment.
  5. Demonstrates leadership qualities and receives a recommendation from a staff person or leader at Black Rock before taking a leadership role.

Leadership Roles You Can Apply To

If you are interested in learning more about any of these roles, or have any questions please email Pastor Jeremy at jtaylor@blackrock.org.

Guest Reception Leader

The Guest Reception Leader is one of the most unique and exciting volunteer positions at Black Rock Church because it offers the ability to walk with people who are likely unconnected to the church community as a whole and help them to begin to connect with us. The Guest Reception Leader helps schedule, coach, and train their volunteer team to connect with guests meaningfully across all Sunday morning services. The volunteer leader fulfilling this role is expected to be present serving every other week throughout Sunday morning coordinating rotating teams on Sunday mornings to ensure continuity of ministry and service at Guest Reception.

Mid-week Onsite Childcare Coordinator

As a church with many families who have young children, providing opportunities for parents to focus on participation in a discipleship group while their children are well cared for is of high value. Mid-week opportunities at church such as Moms of the Rock, evening Community Groups or Bible studies, etc. allow us to leverage our Kids Cove spaces to provide care for infants and toddlers. The Mid-week Childcare Coordinator manages the recruitment, scheduling and equipping of childcare volunteers so that parents have the opportunity to focus on their spiritual growth.

Kids Ministry Sunday Small Group Leaders

Facilitate discussions about the weekly lesson with a small group of kids and build a mentoring relationship with them so that they learn more about Jesus and grow in their faith.

Kids Midweek Leader

Lead a group of 8-12 children in Grade 1-5 by engaging them in the lesson or activity, connecting them to one another, and modeling worship and active listening. We will provide everything you need to succeed in this role!

Middle School Small Group Leader

With hundreds of students entering our ministry each week, we need consistent adult leaders to shepherd and disciple students towards being fully devoted followers of Christ. If you love God and like students, you can take this amazing opportunity to replicate yourself in the lives of students as they are divided up by grade and gender.
