Our Gap Year/Global Intern Program (for young adults 18-26) seeks to bring together your love for Jesus and your passion for reaching people with God’s love by providing you the opportunity to experience several months in the mission field. This is a great way for you explore the world as you learn how God is shaping your future.

What is the Gap Year Program?
The program is designed for young adults, ages 18-26, who are missions-minded and want to explore that calling in a deeper and more meaningful way.
How long is the program?
The program is anywhere from 9-12 months.
What exactly will I be doing in my gap year?
Great Question! Since you are missions-minded, the majority of your time will be spent on the mission field ministering the love of Jesus to people in desperate need of that love.
I’m just a kid, and although I think God is calling me to the mission field, I don’t feel qualified to be a missionary!
But that’s the point of the program. If God is calling you to missions, He will prepare you for that work. And that is the whole point of this program. It’s the starting point in your journey. It is the response to the prompting of God on your heart that He may be calling you as a missionary.
How much does it cost?
Costs can vary, depending upon the program but Black Rock is here to help you! Black Rock can fund up to one-half the cost of the program. You will be responsible for the other half. Black Rock will offer a guided program to help you fund your half of the cost. This will be done by fund-raising and job opportunities.
Will I be serving with Black Rock in my Gap Year as a Global Intern?
As a general rule, Black Rock is simply coming alongside young adults in the congregation who are seeking to explore the call of missions that God has put on their hearts. This is done through an agency that has a predesigned internship established. Black Rock would be acting as a facilitator, mentor, and shepherd as we seek to lovingly guide you through your gap year/internship.
