Kids Ministry

At Black Rock, we want kids to be excited to come to church each week, knowing that they will be able to connect with others and, most importantly, grow closer to their heavenly Father.  Everything we do in our children’s ministry is focused on teaching kids about Jesus in a meaningful and accessible way, and bringing children into real and active relationships with God at an early age.

Summer Programs & Kids Choir

We have many great opportunities for your children to grow throughout the year including Kids Choir, Vacation Bible School (VBS) and our Summer Adventure day camp.

Nursery Age Children

We know leaving your new baby for the first time can be overwhelming. The volunteers in our nursery have been chosen for this age group because of their love for babies, and have been trained extensively to care for all of the needs of your child. Preschool Age Children

In our preschool classes, kids participate in carefully planned crafts and games, hear creative Bible lessons and praise God through fun, energetic worship. Each age-specific class is designed to communicate the love of Jesus to children in simple, interactive ways they’ll understand and respond to.

In the Kid’s Cove we promote twice a year, first Sunday in September and January 1.  For example if your child’s 3rd birthday is on or before the first Sunday in September then he/she will promote from 2’s to 3’ class.  If your child’s 3rd birthday is after the September cut off date but before December 31 then he/she will promote to the 3’s class January 1.  Any birthday after December 31 will not promote until September of the following year. The only exception being a child that is in the Pre-K or Kindergarten room. They will promote to 1st grade in September.  For any special circumstances or if you have questions please contact Robin Kick at

Elementary

In Elementary, kids will learn three core truths – I can trust God no matter what, I need to make wise choices, and I should treat others the way I want to be treated.  Our high-energy large group worship time engages kids in the Bible story through drama, singing, and fun games. In small group, each group's small group leader will discuss the story with your kids, teaching them about how God loves them, and how they can apply the lesson to their daily lives.

Special Needs Ministry

We recently launched SHINE ministry at Black Rock Church aims to come alongside children and families who have been touched by disability while seeking to make Christ known to them. To do this, we pair each child with special needs with an adult buddy (aide) so that they might be actively involved in the other Kids Ministry environments here each week. New To Black Rock?

We're so glad to have you as our guest at Black Rock Church! We want your experience at Black Rock Kids to be one worth talking about.

The first time you bring your child to Black Rock Kids, simply visit the Kids Registration desk in the Welcome Center of the church. From there, we'll guide you through getting your child checked in, and our volunteers will be available to answer any questions you might have about Black Rock Kids!

If this is your first time with us, we will ask you to fill out a quick registration form for your child or children prior to dropping them off with us.  You can fill this form out at our Kids Registration desk, or download it to fill it out at home - just make sure to bring it with you on Sunday morning!

DoWNLOAD THE FORM TO PRINT AND REGISTER YOUR KIDS

All classes open 20 minutes before each service, and drop off remains open until 20 minutes after the service has started.

Safety IS Our Priority

When you register your child, we provide you and your child matching identification tags that are exclusive to your family and your visit. To pick up your child, simply present your tag to one of our Kids volunteers, and they will be released back to you. Make sure you hold onto your tag, as we will need to check that your tag's information matches your child's before allowing you to pick them up!

We also provide a "gatekeeper" team for each kids area to ensure that only authorized teachers, helpers, and parents are allowed in our kids areas.

Common Questions

What if I lose my scan card?
Lost your card? No problem! Simply stop by the Kids Registration desk located in the lobby - we'll get you a new one free of charge!

When will my child move to the next room?

  • Nursery / Crawlers / Walkers
Generally these room transitions are based upon whether or not your baby is proficiently crawling/walking. For example, a toddler will remain in the Crawlers room until he/she is walking the majority of the time without assistance, at which point he or she will move to the Walkers room.
  • 2 Years to Pre-K
If your child is two years old as of Promotion Sunday (at the end of August), he or she will remain in the 2's class for the school year, and will transition to the 3's class the next Promotion Sunday. Three- and four-year-olds will be promoted the same way.
  • 1st to 4th grade
Transitions in Elementary follow the Fairfield school calendar. When the new school year begins for local public schools, we will transition all our elementary students from one grade to the next.
