Local Outreach

As part of our Missions commitment to reach local university students and children and families at risk in our local community, we partner with several local organizations to extend the love of God outside our walls.

Our Local Outreach Partners are actively engaged in fulfilling our strategic priority of reaching local university students and those most at risk in our surrounding communities with the love of Christ.

Amirah Inc.

Amirah Inc. combats sex-trafficking and sexual exploitation in New England. Along with education and outreach, Amirah specializes in residential care, providing trauma-informed aftercare services for survivors of domestic sex-trafficking in Massachusetts and Connecticut. The name, “Amirah,” means, “princess.” Our hope is that every woman who comes to our home would go from seeing herself as “victim” or “property” to “beloved daughter of the King.”

Safe Home Volunteers

Amirah volunteers aid the expert program-staff in the safe home. While we leave the expertise up to trained professionals, we know that Amirah volunteers have an opportunity to play a major role in the social restoration of each woman. Right now, our Connecticut Safe Home needs more volunteers serving regularly, so we can expand the capacity and welcome more women into our home!

Young Life

Young Life’s mission is to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith. We believe that every kid deserves the chance to hear about the God who loves them and wants to bring meaning and purpose to their life. We aim to serve as “local missionaries” to the high school and middle school students in the area who aren’t yet plugged in with a local church.

Get the opportunity to share the gospel with unchurched, disinterested kids (and help others grow in their faith) by entering into their world, earning the right to be heard, and walking alongside them as a friend and mentor. Volunteers help run weekly outreach and discipleship events.

YOUNG LIFE COMMITTEE MEMBER - One Sunday/month, 4:00-5:30 PM

Help lost kids learn about Jesus Christ by providing a network of moral and administrative support for the local Young Life team. Committee members can be parents, Young Life alumni, civic leaders, or anyone else who cares about kids and believes in the mission of Young Life.

Kairos Prison Ministry

The mission of the Kairos Prison Ministry is to share the transforming love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ to impact the hearts and lives of incarcerated men, women and youth and their families. The ministry has been operating in Connecticut since 1996. Over 2000 Connecticut incarcerated men, women, and youth have heard the Good News. It is made up of three programs: Kairos Inside, Kairos Outside and Kairos Torch. The core of each program is the weekend retreat, held 2-3 times yearly either inside the prison with inmates or outside with relatives of the incarcerated. This is followed up by weekly and monthly visits to build a Christian community within the facilities.

Operation Hope provides services to our neighbors in Fairfield who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. These services include an Emergency Shelter (30 beds for men, women and families), a community kitchen serving lunch and dinner every day, and a food pantry that provides for over 200 families per month. Beyond addressing immediate needs, Operation Hope is committed to addressing the root causes of homelessness by providing skills-training, counseling and long-term affordable housing.

Royal Family Kids Camp

Royal Family Kids Camp is a one-week sleep-away camp for children in the CT foster care system. The children range from 5-11 years old and have often experienced some type of abuse. Each year, over 60 volunteers from local churches, including Black Rock, show the love of Christ to 40 children by providing them one week of constant attention, love and fun.
