Urban Impact is made up of volunteers who tutor and mentor at-risk youth, K-grade 12, in the low-income PT Barnum public housing community of Bridgeport. At-risk youth are offered in-school & after-school activities to help them achieve academic success and develop positive character traits. By example, the volunteers demonstrate the peace, strength and self-worth that results from knowing Christ personally.
SERVE WITH URBAN IMPACT
XLR8 - TU/W/TH 6:00-7:30 PM
We believe education is a ladder, and if a student misses a step without proper guidance, they cannot move on. The XLR8 program bridges that gap for students in Grades 4-8 through a STEAM- curriculum-based tutoring program where students are able to develop their math and logical reasoning.
KID POWER - One day a week Between 9:30-11:00 AM or 1:00-2:30 PM
Did you know that the students within the PT Barnum Apartments in Bridgeport are only managing a 6.5% reading proficiency rate? The math proficiency is similarly poor. Through our Kid Power Program, students Grades 1-3 develop their reading and comprehension skills. Our program occurs live in the local school, where each tutor is assigned to assist the classroom teacher to focus attention on the academics in need of strengthening.
PRIMETIME - Approximately 90 – 120 minutes weekly
These are small group mentoring events for various age groups with Bible lessons, a meal, and fun activities on Monday and Tuesday nights. Building a healthy mentoring relationship with the kids, while sharing life and lessons with them.

Amirah Inc. combats sex-trafficking and sexual exploitation in New England. Along with education and outreach, Amirah specializes in residential care, providing trauma-informed aftercare services for survivors of domestic sex-trafficking in Massachusetts and Connecticut. The name, “Amirah,” means, “princess.” Our hope is that every woman who comes to our home would go from seeing herself as “victim” or “property” to “beloved daughter of the King.”
SERVE WITH AMIRAH

Amirah volunteers aid the expert program-staff in the safe home. While we leave the expertise up to trained professionals, we know that Amirah volunteers have an opportunity to play a major role in the social restoration of each woman.
