Church doesn’t end after we leave the building. We are called to share life and encourage one another as we grow in faith 24/7. That’s why Black Rock uses The City, a group-oriented social network that facilitates community at Black Rock, allows us to care for each other and brings communication to everyone.
WHY DOES BLACK ROCK USE THE CITY?
Community is one of our core values and as our church continues to grow, the ability for us to live in community becomes more challenging. The City provides a place for us to communicate and encourage one another on our faith journey.
HOW IS THE CITY DIFFERENT FROM OTHER SOCIAL NETWORKS?
Popular social networks are geared toward individuals and their needs. The City was created with a Biblical purpose, inspired by Matthew 5:14. It is all about groups and the needs of the local church. Also, The City is private by default. Although some things can be shared publicly, information shared among groups is limited to those groups.
HOW DOES THE CHURCH COMMUNICATE VIA THE CITY?
The City is our primary communication tool, providing one place where you can keep up with the life of the church and find opportunities to Show Up, Group Up and Team Up.
Different conversations happen in different groups. In the larger church and campus groups, our pastors and directors share opportunities for involvement and growth. In small groups and ministry teams, leaders and members communicate with each other throughout the week. There is also a marketplace, which is a churchwide place to share, buy or sell things.
HOW DO I USE THE CITY?
The easiest way to learn how to use The City is simply by spending time on it, but we’ll provide classes, guides and video tutorials.
WHO CAN JOIN THE CITY?
Anyone (age 13 or older) who attends Black Rock is encouraged to join The City to get connected and stay informed.
