Special Needs Ministry
We are thrilled to announce that Black Rock has begun a special needs ministry for children on Sunday mornings, now known as our SHINE ministry. We want children with special needs to be able to participate in all of our Kids Ministry environments here each week, and our goal is for every child to be supported and engaged with his or her peers through the support of a buddy (aide). Since our SHINE ministry is new to Black Rock, we are currently offering this one-on-one buddy system to children who are in nursery school through the fourth grade. We would love to meet you and see how we can best assist your child here at Black Rock!
In order to accommodate a child with special needs, we require an intake form to be completed either prior to or during your first visit to Black Rock. If you prefer to complete this form online before attending, please see our Special Needs Student Profile. You will be contacted by our staff once we have received this form.
Throughout the four Gospels, Jesus is seen very intentionally comforting, supporting, and sharing the Good News with people with disabilities. God is faithful to us from our first breath until our very last; we believe he has called us to exhibit that same faithfulness to both children with special needs and their families, too. If you are interested in volunteering your time to serve as a child’s buddy, please prayerfully consider it and contact us! We’d love to have you serve on our team.
